What coffee genetics is in my field ?
Through the “Coffee Genetic Discovery”, 100 growers will win a free coffee DNA fingerprinting and know with certainty the genetic composition of their favorite coffee trees.
The “Coffee Genetic Discovery” is financed by Lavazza, executed by RD2 Vision and the overall results will be presented at the International Coffee Convention, organized by Coffee Consulate in Mannheim (Germany) from October 17 to 18, 2024.

Who can take part in Coffee Genetic Discovery?
- Any Arabica coffee producer, regardless of geography, can take part.
- Each participant may register only once.
- Any trader or roaster may register as many partner producers as they wish, provided they have secured the acceptance of the producers concerned.
- No commercial information is requested from the producer
Preparing and sending samples
- The 100 winners will receive a message with details of how to prepare and send their sample.
The prize
- The prize is a DNA fingerprining analysis using SSR molecular markers, accompanied by an interpretation by Dr C. Montagnon indicating the genetic identity of the sample.
- In the second half of September 2024, each winner will receive an individual and confidential document from RD2 Vision indicating the result of the genetic analysis.
- The value of the prize is 100 USD.
How to register?
- The registration phase runs until June 30, 2024.
- To register, fill in a simple questionnaire (Participate)
The draw
- The draw for the 100 winners will take place on July 1, 2024.
- The draw will be made at random from all registered producers.
- Should one of the winners withdraw, a new draw will be held to replace him/her.
Presentation of results
- The results of the “Coffee Genetic Discovery” operation will be presented on October 17, 2024 at the International Coffee Convention in Mannheim (2024).
- The presentation will include consolidated and anonymized results.
